I trained in the traditional style of Sivananda Hatha Yoga with Universal Yoga in Bath led by Charlotta Martinus and with the Teen Yoga Foundation also led by Charlotta Martinus. I have also been practising Iyengar Yoga for 18 years and enjoy practising and learning about other yoga disciplines. I regularly attend a variety of yoga workshops to keep my teaching and practice up to date and immerse myself in reading and learning about yoga philosophy to deepen my practice and remain authentic to the teachings and discipline of the 8 Limbs of Ashtanga Yoga.

About my teaching

Having been in the nursing profession all of my adult life, I know the importance of slowing down to listen to my own heart and take care of myself in order to be able to continue to provide care to others. I believe nursing is at the core of the Bhakti Yoga tradition of devotional service to others’ and I am passionate about helping others’ to continue to share their gifts whilst taking care of their own needs.

Yoga is more than the physical asanas taught in class, it encompasses a way of feeling connected to the self, others and the world we live in and is many things from being true to oneself, being of service to others’ and having a non-violent approach to life which includes daily consideration for the impact we have on our environment.

My classes draw on yogic philosophy to inspire others’ to live more fully and in harmony with our wonderful planet. I integrate the teachings of Sivananda Hatha Yoga, Meditation, Kirtan and Restorative yoga practices to align and calm the body, mind and spirit in preparation for meditation. In addition, I use complementary therapies to enhance the overall therapeutic experience in my classes.

I offer regular evening adult yoga classes. I also offer regular adult Aromatherapy Yoga weekend workshops for wellbeing. 1:1 and 1:2 parent and child/teen and couples therapeutic yoga is available by request.

Classes are typically 1-1.5 hr.
