In the same way that physical exercise is recognised as supporting physical health, there is a growing recognition that mindfulness meditation can support our mental health and wellbeing. Mindfulness is rooted in ancient wisdom and practices, and is known to help you becoming more familiar with the mind and learning to work with it more skilfully. The Power of Mindfulness Meditation course has base on the Introducing Mindfulness curriculum of Oxford Mindfulness Foundation with Oxford University. The sessions are group-based, and involve a combination of teaching, mindfulness practices, trying out what is learned in everyday life and discussion. What to expect: • This is a structured course where each session builds upon what has been introduced before. This is why it is encouraged that you attend all sessions (possibility to record session in case of absence). • You will be in a group of up to 8 people, led by a certified teacher, trained to deliver Mindfulness. • You will be able to share doubts, difficulties and challenges and receive support and insight from the teacher. • Each session will have guided and structured meditation practices, many drawn from modern psychology and ancient practices. • Each practice or exercise is followed by a review of what you and/or other participants experienced, struggled or discovered. • Each session is followed by suggestions for personal practice. This includes both recommended guided practices, and also ways to cultivate new habits of mindfulness in everyday life. • You will receive guided practices and written material to support each session and use as resource after the course finished. Expected benefits when practicing regular mindfulness mediation: Reduced stress, improved focus and attention, enhanced emotional regulation, increased self-awareness, better decision-making skills, pain relief, better sleep quality, decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression, improved relationships, enhanced creativity, increased resilience to challenges, and a greater sense of inner peace and contentment. *Please note: This course is not being offered as a treatment for any specific physical or psychological conditions. Please do not sign up for this training if you are currently experiencing severe problems in these areas.
