About Jim

Before embarking on my career in counselling and psychotherapy, I spent ten years in the field of social-emotional learning. In this role, I worked with adults and young people to support their development of greater emotional knowledge, self-awareness, and emotional regulation skills. I have also partnered with Emory University’s Cognitively Based Compassion Training (CBCT) and SEE Learning projects, developing courses and training thousands of individuals in compassion-focused approaches to better support their emotions, needs, and social connections. This experience in education, compassion, contemplative practices (such as meditation and compassion training), and emotion-focused work has profoundly shaped my approach to therapy. I am passionate about supporting clients in building self-knowledge, practical skills for managing life's challenges, and greater compassion for themselves and others.

About therapy with Jim:

As a finalist in the MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy programme, I am registered as a trainee psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a Certified Practising Counsellor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My integrative training allows me to draw on various therapeutic approaches, including person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Gestalt approaches. Integrative therapy enables me to tailor our sessions to your unique needs and goals, whether that involves exploring anxiety management, navigating past difficulties, managing change, or pursuing personal growth.

I am particularly interested in how our bodies and minds work together and the relationships between identifying and understanding our needs, sensations, and emotions. I have worked with clients for a variety of reasons, including stress, anxiety, self-awareness and relationship challenges. As a relationship-focused and humanistic practitioner, I am here to support you in developing self-awareness and growth with compassion.

I work with adult individuals in both long-term, open-ended therapy and limited-term therapy, incorporating both face-to-face and online sessions.

An initial free consultation lasts 30 minutes and can be conducted online or in person. It will allow us to understand your needs and determine whether we can work together.
